A basic, effective powdered mineral toothpaste can be made by combining natural cleansing agents with ingredients that help remineralize teeth and freshen breath

Bentonite Clay: (Amazon Link) Helps draw out toxins.

Calcium Carbonate Powder: (Amazon Link) Helps remineralize teeth.

Redmond Real Salt: (Amazon Link) Adds minerals and acts as an antiseptic.

Optional (for flavor/extra benefits)

Activated Charcoal: (Amazon Link) For whitening (will turn the powder black/gray).

Cinnamon or Ground Cloves: For antibacterial properties and flavor.

Birch Xylitol powder: (Amazon Link) For a sweeter taste.

Essential oils (peppermint , clove, cinnamon)

Equipment

  • 1 spice grinder

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Calcium Carbonate
  • 1/4 Cup Bentonite Clay
  • 3 TBSP Birch Xylitol grind
  • 1 TSP Mineral Salt Redmond Real Salt- grind
  • 3 TBSP ground mint leaves grind

Instructions

  • Grind mint leaves, salt, and birch xylitol.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a non-metallic bowl (bentonite clay should not interact with metal), combine the bentonite clay, calcium carbonate, birch xylitol, mint, salt, and any optional dry ingredients like activated charcoal or ground spices.
  • Store: Transfer the finished powder to an airtight glass jar or container. 
  • How to Use- Dip a wet toothbrush into the powder, or sprinkle a small amount onto your wet brush head or put a little into the palm of your hand and dip your wet toothbrush into it.Brush your teeth as you normally would. 

Notes

  • Optional (for flavor/extra benefits):
    • 1/2 tsp. Activated Charcoal
    • 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon or 1 tsp. Ground Cloves
    • Essential oils (peppermint, clove, cinnamon): 8-10 drops total for flavor and freshness. 
You can turn this powder into a paste by mixing a small amount with coconut oil or distilled water right before use.
